Culture shock…
i’m sitting at heathrow, about to get on a flight back to Toronto – a bit surreal. a few days ago i was in a land of squat toilets (i still don’t understand how you’re supposed to use these), Bisleri water, bucket showers, rooftop beds, and daredevil rickshaw drivers – and now i’m in London where everything is very orderly (slow) and proper – when I landed into Heathrow, I had to wait for over an hour and half in a single file line to get through immigration! as my cousin said, London must be the only developing world where you can’t bribe someone to get past a line… very true…(don’t get mad at me, she said it, not me!). Surprisingly though, as backward as London is, it seems very quiet and chilled out… and things such seeing people throw their garbage on the street doesn’t seem that bad anymore compared to the red tobacco spit all over India… but i gotta admit, i’m dying for a mango lassi and some pani puri… and if I had known how damn cold it would be in London, there is no way I would’ve only stayed in Dubai for a few hours!
so anyhow – now i’m worried about how slow and overly clean Toronto is going to be…
