Richard Parker is real
WARNING: Potential Spoilers.
Life of Pi has got to be one of the best books that I have ever read. It blows my mind away to think about the different levels of the book. A story within a story, one that you want to be real, and the other you want to be false, and then the ending…wow. It left me feeling sad as can be though. I guess that’s the point. I wasn’t just sad for him, but it made me reflect on my life, and the acknowledgement that eventually we all lose members of our families (hopefully, in nowhere near as gruesome terms), and that made me sad. Rarely do I feel real emotion while reading a book – for an author to do that, takes real skill. The entire adventure of the main character Pi and a Bengal tiger, named Richard Parker, learning to live with each other on raft in order to survive, makes you feel like a kid – it’s great. If you haven’t read this yet, you have to put it on your list.
