How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of GlobalizationHow Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization by Franklin Foer

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The first couple of chapters were easy reads, but then it seems to just continue along the same lines. Too much of it seemed to be based on unsubstantiated theories – like Iran’s Khatemi’s unlikely victory being due to associating with Iran’s football players… I thought it was going to be a book that would make analogies of football to explain real world situations – not a historical book which explains the effect of football in certain regions. I did like the last chapter which talks about how the States is influenced Globalization – common thought in Europe, is that US only pushes out their culture but fails to recognize that they too are susceptible to it.
